1. The world economy is becoming asingle economic unit. Individual national economies are developing closerlinkages through trade, and financial institutions. Multinational corporationsspread their activities across national boundaries, and the internationalbanking system carries on banking activities throughout the world.

2. During the last two decades, whileworld output has been growing about 4% per year, world trade has been growingabout 8% and production by foreign subsidiaries has been growing by some 10%. Exportand import shares of output have increased considerably in practically allindustrial sectors.

3. The inter-enterprise internationaldivision of labour influences relations between the developed and developing countries.The weight of developing countries in world trade is gradually declining. Inthe seventies the newly independent states played an important role in theworld economy and international politics. Their share in world productionincreased, and they were able to launch a campaign for a new internationalorder.
